Well, as some of you already know we had a little bit of a scare this week. For those of you that don't know or got part of the story this is for you. Sorry it is long, never knew so much could happen in 24 hours.
Monday morning around 5 am I woke up with crazy heartburn or indigestion tried to deal with it for a while took some Tums sat up in bed for a while and decided to go downstairs so Danny could get some sleep. I thought maybe eating a bagel would help. Tried to get comfortable on the couch watching TV. No luck there got up to go to the bathroom and was not able to keep the bagel down. Immediately after quite a violent episode of throwing up I got a really bad pain in my right side. Thought it might go away, it wasn't it was getting worse. So I went upstairs it is now about 7:30 told Danny not sure what is going on, but I am in pain. He called the doctor on call they said to go Labor and Delivery at the hospital. Got up to go and got sick again. Poor Danny following me around the bathroom cleaning up after me. (gotta love him he has been amazing through all this).
So we drove to the hospital downtown which only takes about 20 minutes and seemed like an eternity. They hooked me up to a monitor in the Labor and Delivery Triage department. My symptoms were not like labor since it was only isolated to the one side. With the monitor on the baby was moving around like crazy. Her heartbeat was strong, the nurse even said this is a strong baby for 28 weeks. That was a relief and good to hear. Then other monitor was to see if I was having contractions, which I wasn't until about 20 minutes later they were every 2 minutes. I didn't know I was having them, because the pain on the right was much more intense.(On a pain scale of 1-10, 10 being the worse pain I was at a 9) They gave me a shot to stop the contractions and hooked me up to an IV. They monitored that for about 20 minutes and they contractions stopped and started again. So they called the doctor and they gave me another dose to stop the contractions.
After a few hours of blood and urine tests and being monitored, they said my white blood cell count came back high around 23 or 26 not sure. Normal is 12, I was also running a low grade fever. This meant that there was some sort of infection. That they said bought me a stay in the hospital under a 23 hour observation. Great, here I thought they were going to tell me that I just had gas and the baby was fine and send me home. No such luck.

Danny finding out we have to stay overnight!
So they moved me to the Antepartum Care Unit, were all the pregnant ladies go that are not ready to deliver. This department tries to keep everyone pregnant until they are due. I was somewhat familiar with this unit, having visited my sister-in-law Stephanie there a few months before. Let me tell you Stephanie now I know why you wanted to come home. The nurses and doctor were great. They treat you really nice, the food is actually pretty good and the unit is nice and new, but the beds are not like being in your own bed and you can't really sleep when they come in every hour to check your vitals, or fix the annoying IV that keeps beeping or draw blood. It is not easy to sleep with the IV in one hand and aching arm for blood draws. (like my dad says the lab techs are vampires they poke you and bruise you, not fun)
Anyways after a very long day my white blood cell count was still the same that afternoon, but the pain on the right had gone down to about a 4-5. This was good. Danny went home to get the laptop so he could work and bring me back some socks (my feet were freezing, thank you Heidi for the sliper socks that you gave me a few years ago they were perfect) and a toothbrush. He also brought Peppermint, our babies first build a bear made my Paige given to us at the shower.
On his way home he called the Grandma's (we tried to not tell anyone since we were not really sure what was going on and did not want them to be worried, but knew if we did not say anything we would be in trouble) My mom insisted on my brother Richard coming up to give me a blessing, so like a good loving brother and son he came with his neighbor and gave me a blessing. Thank you Richard, it was very sweet and made me cry.

After a long night they drew some more blood around 5 am and the doctor came around 7am and said the WBC count had gone down to 15 so perhaps I had some sort of 24 hour virus and when I was throwing up I pulled a muscle or pinched something. We are not sure what was going on, but glad that I was cleared to go home. They put me back on the monitor to check the baby one more time and she was doing great moving like crazy. As soon as possible they took the IV out and I felt so free. After breakfast I changed and waited for the discharge papers. I could not wait to get home and go to sleep.

Peppermint and I waiting to go home.
I am home now and slept most of Tuesday and am feeling better everyday. I have a doctors appointment on Thursday afternoon for the Glucose testing and my Rhogam shot. I will keep you updated if anything else comes up. We are doing good, baby is moving like crazy and hope to not return to the hospital for another 10-12 weeks.
