Day 2 with Brooklyn

Brooklyn Rose with her first dress. She had to get dressed for her first photoshoot with the hospital photography company. All I see is Cheeks!

Grandma with Brooklyn Rose

Holding her head up with eyes open! Geez how old is this kid?

Tis the season. It was a chilly 30 degrees when I went home for a few hours today. This is what we see from the Baby Hotel. The cone shaped building is the State Capitol Building.

Here She is!

Around 7:00pm last night our baby came to join us. Mom and Baby (as of right now Brooklyn Rose Adair) are doing well. Brooklyn was 8 lbs 12oz, 20.333inches long. Her head about 13 inches.

Oh wait let's get it out now..Her initials will be B.R.A.,hahahaha. Okay, now we never need to talk about it again... :) Unless they want a knuckle sandwich from Brooklyn. LOL

Our hospital room doesn't allow cell phones, so don't expect the phone to be answered right away. We have a room number, but I am not sharing it, cus Mommy is tired!

So here's what happened after the 9.5 cm epidural. As it was time to start pushing Shantel, the nurse Tia, and I were dilgent in every contraction. Mommy was super tough because she would give 4 huge 10-count pushes during every contraction. After an hour we saw some good progress as Daddy was super pumped to see baby's head started to show. After about another hour to hour and half we could see the baby's head really starting to show. From there Shanny pushed for almost another 2 hours, reaching pure exhaustion, and little baby movement. Meanwhile during this whole process bay's heart rate would drop every so often so mom got to breate with the O2 mask.

So four hours have gone by, and it was time for some assitance, so out came the Vacuum pump. With Big metal forceps on stand by, I told Shanny "We need to get her out now, becuase we don't want to use those Big Salad Tongs!" As the doctor instered the vacuum cap and the nurse began to build pressure, I could see that the baby's heads was beginning to be totally sucked into this little cup. I was like "Holy Cow, we're gonna damage her brain for life." Can you say "Resilient"

The doctor stood at the foot of the bed standing with both hands on the vancuum cup handles. During the next contractions came the beginning of the rest of our lives. Shan began to push like she was Superman stopping the runaway train, and the doc pulled hard! After 3 insane pushes and tugging her head was out and they wanted to get the rest of her out quick. Another 3 HUGE (here life depends on it ) pushes and some sweet manuvering by the doctor, we had little baby completey out.

I was able to cut the cord as they hurried the baby to NICU, as she had Marchonium (sp). Basically means baby was getting to big so she did a little "doo-doo" inside the womb. Well, me not knowing I was like, well who cares, it has to go somewhere what's the big deal. AS you can imagine being dipped in poo and taking your first breathe, it's not a healthy situation. So NICU took some standard agressive matters. To make sure she was okay.

OUr first night went well. Baby is feeding on Mommy and Mommy is doing prettty good considering. I'll let her talk about what a 8lb 12 oz baby does when she is tugged from her little 9 month home... I bet Dr. King can sew a nice quilt because I saw her do some serious sewing last night.... :(

The Calm before the

Okay, so we had all kinds of action early, now Shanny's been pushing for 3.5 hours. We can see the babies head but she just won't peek at the world. The doc gave the option for vacuum assistance but Shan decided to push a bit longer. Shanny has been super strong, she's getting a bit tired but hopefully the second wind will come. I've tried talking the baby out, bribery, threatened to ground her, but she still feels best inside Mama. Ahhhh well I guess she'll come eventually..

WOW!

So we just had a super intense situation! Shanny was tired of the pain so she asked for the epidural. The epidural specialist came in and started doing his thing. Shanny's spaces in her back are really small so it was a little slow to get the procedure done. Meanwhile the baby's heart rate started dropping. We had 4 nurses and the doctor in here before we knew it. Shan was on hands and knees as the nurses were trying to relieve some pressure. She was at 4cm, then to 9.5 cm in an hour and fifteen minutes! After some O2 and the new position, baby's heart rate came up. Shanny now lays much more comfortable with the new medicine, but is feeling some "pressure." Nurse say's we are getting close and it time to save some energy for the grand finale. Wish us luck!

Getting Intense

Okay, contractions are getting pretty intense. Shanny hasn't taken any medicine yet, and most of the smiles have turned to pain. We've been using a birthing ball with massages and back rubs. Gonna get techy right now: Shans 4 Cm right now with 80% effaced (sp).

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

Don't change the channel.

Step Two

Dr. King just stopped by. Shan is having a great start. In order to speed the labor process it's common for the doctor the "break the water." So about 5 minutes ago the doctor performed that simple task, so we should be on our way to the races. They estimate we could be here another 7-10 hours, but everyone is different.

Here's a pic of the baby's heart monitor (110-160) beats per minute is good. Yeah, pretty fast!

The BIG Day!

Good morning,

Today Shanny and I are at St.Lukes Hospital in Boise to have our little one. Shanny was up this morning at 5:30 with a shower, good breakfast and hair and make-up. She wants to look good for the baby, hahaha.

Our room is nice , and our nurse Tia is super nice and accomodating.

At this moment Shanny has an IV, and they started with the drug Pitocyn (sp) to start labor contractions. She answering all of the preliminary questions, allergies, last time she ate, etc... We hope everything goes well today and speaking for myself, "Super Excited!" Mommy to be is a bit nervous, and just started her first contraction of the morning.

Stay tuned!

Last Day!

Rebecca, Lyn, Holly and Me!
Thursday was my last day of Pre-Natal Water Aerobics. It was a fun class, we played basketball in the deep end, which believe it or not it is a pretty good workout. Gets your heart rate going and your stomach muscles stronger from laughing so much. Holly our instructor had a banner and cookies for my goodbye treat. It was very sweet of her. We also did our famous Thriller routine again for the last time! It is hard to say goodbye, but exciting because that means the baby is coming soon. I really enjoyed going to the class. I have meet some great women that I hope to continue a relationship with once we have our babies. Holly started crying when class was over, which you can't do in front of a pregnant person, I started once I got in the car. I was one of her original students. I am glad I had the opportunity to take this class, it helped with the swelling and helped me not feel like I was actually doing something good for me as I was growing daily.

Prego Thriller!

What you all have been waiting for! Pre-Natal Water Aerobics making a Thriller movie, what's scarier Michael Jacksons version or the prego version. I am in the back left in the white skeleton mask. We had a lot of fun just being dorks that day, I have not laughed that hard in a while.

Shooting Trip

Porter was ready for some action

The Bronco got to go on a much needed Dirt trip, it has been lonely since we moved to Idaho
All it needs is Josh's orange blazer next to it!

Matt setting up the targets

The road to nowhere! Look how pretty the sky is, cold but great day for a guys trip.
Danny and Matt went shooting about 15 minutes from the house Saturday, they took Matt's dog, Porter some targets and dusted off there guns. It was the first time in a very long time that Danny got to shoot his dad's shotgun that finally got fixed. They did a little unexpected offroading and only broke one weld on the tire carrier on the back of the Bronco. From the looks of the MUDDY Bronco they had fun.

Rock N Roll Eliza

Sorry it's sideways I took the video the wrong way on the camera!

Awaiting babies arrival!

On Friday, Danny had some downtime with work so as we are anxiously awaiting the birth of our baby girl, Danny did a little photo shoot. I now know why people do these things at 6 months, so they don't look like Shamu when taking them. Holy Cow what a massive stomach I have. I am glad we did this at home with just the two of us, I could not imagine showing my prego body to a stranger. He took one of just me, but the blogging world does not need to see the whole prego body of mine. I think Danny is the only proud one of that since he created it to be a 11x17, not going to be pretty in large print. Think that will stay in our bedroom for few to see.
Pic with the cute little red shoes my sisters gave us! Can't wait to find a little dress for her to wear them with.

Hard to get those arms around the belly nowadays! Scary she is going to be huge.
So it is Sunday afternoon and nothing yet, I walked the mall, did some more Christmas shopping yesterday and nothing yet! I woke up in such a bad mood yesterday, I think from lack of sleep and anxiety waiting for when this is going to happen. Last night I kinda freaked hadn't felt the baby in a while, but laid on my side for a little while and took a long shower and that helped to get her moving and relax me. I am going to go for another walk today hopefully that will help the contractions to become closer together.

Baby News!

First thing, I have some funny video that I need to post of my Pre-Natal Water Aerobics class doing a routine to Thriller for Halloween (I know you can't wait for that one) and our niece Eliza being a goofball, once I resize them for uploading you will all get the pleasure of enjoying them.

Then I just wanted to give you an update on the latest and greatest around here. I went to the doctors Thursday and had Ultrasound #5 to see how big the baby is and how I am progressing. Based on the measurements they estimate the baby to be about 8lbs 1oz. I will be 38 weeks Saturday so big baby her she comes! Thanks to the genetics on my moms side of the family there is no stopping being in the "9lb Club" direct quote from my mom.

I am dilated to a 3 now and have been having all the normal signs of beginning labor, no big contractions yet! My goal is to try and go to the mall today finish last minute Christmas shopping and walk this baby out! If I do not have this baby on my own I will be induced on Monday Nov 24 to hopefully prevent a 10lb baby from joining our family.

I would post the ultrasound pic, but they are not that clear in person so a scanned version would be even harder to see. We were told she has hair, must be from the Italian side, my family produces bald babies. So that is were we are at next time hopefully pics of your new family. Wish me luck I think I will need it.

Lucy getting ready to take her 2 year old pictures!
Happy Birthday to Lucy! Can't believe our niece is 2, they are getting big so quickly. She was very cute on her birthday so excited to get all her presents and eat her pig cake with mud on the side (chocolate ice cream).
Stephanie you did a great job on the cake quite creative using snowballs for the nose and ears!

Day Trip

On Saturday Danny and I decided to take a drive to get out of the house while we still can and to have a change in scenery, so we drove up to Cascade Lake. The weather wasn't the greatest that day kinda rainy and gloomy skies, but still a nice drive. I thought I would share some of the pictures taken along the drive, especially with the California family who are still experiencing summer weather and probably have yet to see a leaf change color this fall.
One of the turn offs on the side of the road, we got out to walk around and stretch a little

Cascade Lake

I thought this was great, hard to see in the picture. A real cow in the middle of the road, so the road signs really are meant to watch out for livestock crossing!
This was the cow crossing safely so we could pass
This was cool, to many trees to get a good picture. It was a train that tourists can ride on along the river into the mountains. They had cars that you could stand outside and eat. Very Fun, something to do someday.
